New Kittens Advice

This area is to help you with your new kittens to make both of your lives better in the long run.  This page is always under construction -

Toys

Interactive toys help with satisfy their hunting instincts -

*Feather wands are perfect to swing around, chase and catch.

*Interactive puzzle toys offer mental stimulation of problem solving with a yummy treat at the end.

*Laser lights/pointers allow the kitties to chase and run after a silly dot.  Allow them to catch the dot at the end to prevent frustration.  NEVER point the light directly at the kitties eyes.

*Pom/crinkle/bouncy balls keep your kitty moving - a great work out to keep in shape.

Cat tree / scratching post

Kitties like to explore and watch - a cat tree helps them be up higher to check out what is going on - survey the area and be on the hunt for the next unsuspecting friend.  Place in the room you are always in or by a window - keeping an eye on the outdoor nature channel.

Since you will never declaw your kitty - a scratching post helps with keeping the mittens ready for action - and to know the action is not on the furnature!

Grooming / Nail Trimming

The Maine Coons have long hair - you want to brush them every couple days if not once a day to keep the knots and tangles out.  Keep the brush handy when you are sitting on the couch - watching tv - talking with friends - a simple few strokes will make a difference.

We trim nails once a week - playing with their paws all the time - the babies learn at an early age - nail day is necessary - since we require you to NEVER declaw your precious kitty.  Quick and easy to learn - simple to complete - a quick clip of the white sharp edge.

Plus remember - these babies love water - a bath every 6months or so is not a bad idea to keep stinky kitty fresh -- little soap and lots of rinsing to get all the bubbles away.

Keep it Simple

Your new baby wants your love and attention - no need to go out and buy all the toys and all the stands --- use a delivery cardboard box -- or multiple boxes for mazes and tunnels -
